If you are looking
for something very different join this tour. The morning route takes us to the West Coast
Ostrich Farm. After many decades, the ostrich has been reintroduced to this part of the
Cape. The talk and tour tells us of the habits of this strange bird. We then continue to
the early mission station at Mamre dating back to 1808. Our route then winds through the
Wheatlands to Darling and the fishing village of Saldanha. This natural harbour was a
gathering station for convoys in the last war and now receives giant ore and oil carriers
at the recently constructed jetty. The afternoon route travels through the West Coast
Nature Reserve flanking a beautiful lagoon at Langebaan. The ride back to Cape Town is via
Blaauberg with its world famous view of Table Mountain from across the bay. This tour
operates on Tuesdays and Fridays. This tour is only available on special request. Price: R300,00 excluding lunch Please note: This tour will only operate to a minimum of 4 passengers. |

We will pass through some of South Africa's most beautiful mountain scenery of towering peaks, crystal clear mountain streams, Cape Fynbos and Protea species. We first visit Du Toit's Kloof where we see the Huguenot Tunnel, an astounding piece of engineering achievement. Then it's on to Worcester, home of this fruit growing area and the setting for our visit to the unique open-air agricultural museum at Kleinplasie ... one of the day's highlights. This is a living museum with people practicing the old arts and crafts of long gone country living. Travel to historic Tulbagh for Sherry tasting at the old Drostdy (old Magistrates' residence). |

Our lunch stop

| Africas southern-most tip - Cape AgulhasEksplôr SA reference: E/Sc Full 07
For the traveller who wishes to achieve most things, this tour is a must. Taking us far south in a one day drive, we see mountains and wheatlands as we near Bredasdorp, a town which boasts Africas southernmost traffic light! The fascinating Shipwreck Museum is a must before we drive down to the coast itself which has claimed so many lives over the centuries. Your tour guide will tell you of heroic tales such as the legend of the wreck of the "Birkenhead". Here we stand at the tip of the giant African continent and open up a bottle of sparkling wine. Leaving the barren coastline behind we visit a Moravian Mission Station dating back many years. Gansbaai, a little fishing village, is a surprise on our homeward route. |
